Welcome to Nueva Torrequebrada

Your base by the Mediterranean. Here are our tips – the famous gems, but also the local secrets that rarely make the guidebooks.

On foot

Along the seafront promenade and the nearest blocks – no car keys needed.

5 min

Casino Torrequebrada

Games, shows and evening entertainment right next door – a landmark since the 70s.

Just below

The beaches

Playa de Torrequebrada and Playa Bil-Bil: fine sand, calm water and chiringuitos where sardines are grilled on skewers over an open fire (espeto).

10 min

Castillo Bil-Bil

The neo-Moorish castle right on the beachfront – today a cultural centre and the most photographed building on the coast.

15 min

Puerto Marina

Named one of the most beautiful marinas in the world. Restaurants and bars around the canals – perfect for an evening stroll and dinner by the water.

60 min

Parque de la Paloma

Lush park with free-roaming rabbits, roosters, peacocks and a giant tortoise. A favourite with kids, and lovely shade in the middle of the day.

By the marina

Selwo Marina

Dolphins, penguins and sea lions in a small marine park – a quick outing when the weather refuses to cooperate.

A little higher up

Up on the mountain behind the coast – take the bus, a taxi or a short drive.

Short ride

Benalmádena Pueblo

The chalk-white old village above the coast, with Plaza de España, narrow lanes and views all the way out to sea – the calm counterpart to the beach life. Bus 103 stops right outside and takes you all the way up to the pueblo.

Short ride

Teleférico & Monte Calamorro

The cable car up to 770 metres. At the top: hiking trails, a birds-of-prey show and panoramas all the way to Gibraltar and Africa on clear days.

Short ride

Estupa de la Iluminación

The largest Buddhist stupa in the Western world – unexpected, peaceful and free to visit. Next door is the Mariposario, a butterfly house with hundreds of species. Bus 103 stops right outside and takes you all the way up to the stupa and the butterfly park.

Short ride

Castillo de Colomares

A fairy-tale castle built in the 1990s as a monument to Columbus – an architectural fantasy in stone that hardly any tourists know about.
